We’re Erinn and Ryan, a husband and wife in Virginia with two kids and a serious soft spot for land. Vacant Land Family started because of three moments in Ryan’s life.
Becoming A Dad. Some of Ryan’s best memories as a kid were spending all day in the woods hunting with his dad. It didn’t matter if they got anything. It was just time outside together. When our son was born, we knew we wanted that for our kids too, and we finally stopped talking about it and started buying land.
The second was losing Granddad. He had a cabin and some land out in western Virginia, and Ryan spent a lot of weekends there with him. To a kid it was the best place in the world. After he passed, Ryan overheard the family trying to figure out what to do with it. It was rural land and a rundown cabin, and no realtor was exactly lining up to take it. Watching them go through that, on top of losing him, stuck with Ryan. Selling land shouldn’t be that hard, especially at a time like that.
The third was at a gas station in North Carolina. An older Vietnam veteran came up selling CDs of his own bluegrass music to make ends meet. He was waiting on his family’s land to sell, and it was taking forever. Ryan grew up around the military, and that one hit hard. Nobody should be stuck waiting on a piece of land they can’t use while the bills pile up.
So that’s what we do. We buy land. including land other people won’t touch: rural, overgrown, landlocked, inherited, behind on taxes, doesn’t matter. We make a fair offer, cover all the costs, and handle the paperwork. If we seem like people you’d like to work with, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch below.
